Summer

This is the outcome of that WIP some people saw in my scrapbook. But for those who did not see it, here's the rundown.

In high school (a decade ago) I began a surreal painting using my (at the time) recurring imagery of an exploding eyeball. I never finished the work, but I am kind of a hoarder when it comes to art stuff. The canvas has followed me around for almost ten years now so I decided to use it.

I sketched some stuff out with paint and went from there. This was not a planned work, so there is no corresponding drawing to go along with this work.

I began work on it as a warm colored work. In regards to composition, I did not like so much orange, so it was gradually taken over by a sky-inspired combination of blues. This actually just made the plant subject pop more, which was beneficial.

When I finished it, I just felt it said something about how I viewed an early summer morning as a child. Oh to be young and not have to worry about working. I could just sit at home watching David the Gnome and Hey Dude.
